The digital exams are open for you to book permanently. The only time the entry website will close will be for maintenance. You can therefore make sure your student is completely ready before submitting at a point to suit them. A huge bonus too, is that digital exams are only going to be charged at 90% of a live fee. Please note that the date showing when you book will be the current week that you are in. This is just to keep the candidates in batches to make admin easier. Every week the dates will be updated on the system.

The suggestion is to get the recordings done before entering for the exam. You (the parent submitting them for the exam) will only have 2 weeks from receiving the login details to upload to the system, and because there is effectively no closing date attached anymore, this cut-off will be strictly adhered to.

There are no algorithms being used under the new framework. Points are awarded for the pieces and technical work as normal, and so the mark given out of 100 is the final mark with no need for a further moderated result later. Therefore the marks awarded are the full grade, and will fit into the usual Trinity marking system (Pass 60, Merit 75, Distinction 87). The remaining marks not accounted for by pieces and technical work are made up as an ‘overall performance grade’. Further information about this can be found here.

There is now a max upload of 1gb per recording, so there shouldn’t be the need to compress files under this system.

For classical and Jazz, technical work is now required, so please read the criteria carefully for your instrument.
Classical and Jazz technical work can be found here.

Rock and Pop Digital Syllabus and documents can be found here.

TO ENTER FOR A DIGITAL EXAM

You need to enter at trinityrock.com/enter for all types of exams.

Please make sure that you select the relevant district tab (South East – Brighton if you are unsure).

Please make sure that you have got the recordings done before you enter for the exam or can do them and upload within the two week time frame.

Recordings must be done in one continuous recording; no editing is allowed or cutting/pasting different recordings together.

The parent will need to print off the submission form and upload it when submitting the entry along with any copies of pieces not from a Trinity publication;

The candidates need to show the original copies of the books up to the screen;

A list of scales may be used, but not the notation written down. This too should be shown to the screen. Somebody else is able to verbally prompt the scales, but please read the guidelines carefully at the link below.

The link for further information/forms etc can be found here.

More grade information can be found at via mySAM or directly at https://www.sammusicservice.com/grades-tutor/
