This is a reminder to please use the “Student performance” comment option within your lesson reports – Ideally once a half-term.
If your student has played well in the lesson, please let us know!
To elaborate on the importance of this from the points below and why we need the comment option utilised by all tutors:
- This is used to feedback to the schools we work with which in turn allows us to promote within them and keep a flow of students for our tutors
- The recordings will be edited into a compilation and then played within the schools which is well received
- Even if lessons are remote, schools feel like they have an internal music service by being able to play student recordings (alongside live performances)
- For some students, knowing they could be featured in a video will give them more reason to practice and aid their progression
Please remember to add a comment when selecting this option so we know what part of the lesson to edit!

2 – Encouraging student performances (the exciting one!): By letting us know that a student has performed a piece well in their lesson, this will automatically send the recording to the SAM team for review. We will then gain consent from the parent and compile a ‘best bits’ video to send the schools that we teach for. The aim will be that the students recordings will be shown in school assemblies and will give them the confidence to perform live! This is also very useful for showing schools how the students are progressing and for us to approach schools that we don’t currently teach in. We imagine tutors will use this while preparing for an exam, or for a band performance or a show at a school (alongside our Christmas medley!)
