This is a reminder to include a brief termly summary lesson report when requested, in addition to the weekly lesson report.

Parents will be expecting this so please ensure you include this.

It is very important to help with retention over the holidays as a frequent comment from parents is they don’t know how their child is progressing.

Please mention at the end of the lesson that you will be adding this to the lesson report.
Here are a few pointers:
  • Be positive with your language
  • Focus on the main achievements and progression
  • Promote how well online is working
  • Suggest what you will be looking at in September
  • Discuss new books or plans to start or continue grades if relevant
  • Encourage performance and reasons to practice.
  • Mention summer holiday lessons are available and what you could work on!

If you are unsure how to write this, here is a couple of templates you can edit:
_______________

STUDENT has had a fantastic term of lessons, I’m really impressed with their progress!
We managed to learn 5 NEW SCALES and 2 NEW TIME SIGNATURES.
The online lessons are working well and do remember to watch the recordings back, especially the WARMUPS!
It would be fantastic to start looking at the INITIAL GRADE TRINTY ROCK AND POP syllabus in September.
I would encourage you to keep working on PIECE FROM GRADE BOOK with the aim to perform it to your family over the summer – eventually, you may want to form a band and play with other people!
I am available THE FIRST 3 WEEKS of the summer holiday, we could start looking at THE GRADE BOOK or maybe use this time to WORK ON COMPOSITION AND SONG WRITING, which will be a lot of fun!

Well done Joe, it’s been a pleasure teaching you this term!

Over the past few weeks, we have managed to look at more complicated chords and the use of barre shapes. We worked on refining technique, getting more clarity in not only the fretting hand but also picking hand accuracy, both of which have come on amazingly!
We also looked at introducing some more advanced techniques such as string bends and alternate picking. We then applied this to a few songs which we had been working on together and just started preparing for grade 1 Trinity Rock and Pop!
I look forward to seeing you over the holidays or next half-term for more lessons! Next half-term I would love to look at developing your rhythm playing and to start working on improvisation along with continuing working through the grade book. Again, well done in these lessons, you have picked up everything so quickly and it’s been great teaching you this half-term!

Hope you have a great break,

Thanks in advance!
